Problems Caused By Birds

Birds may seem harmless at first, but when they make your property their home, they can cause several serious problems:
Health Concerns: Bird droppings can carry diseases such as salmonella, histoplasmosis, and avian flu. The accumulation of droppings can also create conditions for harmful fungi and bacteria to thrive, posing health risks to humans and animals alike.

Property Damage: Bird droppings' acidic nature can damage roofing, windows, and other materials, leading to costly repairs. In addition, birds often build nests that can obstruct vents, gutters, and chimneys, causing water damage or fire hazards.

Aesthetic Issues: Bird droppings and feathers can create an unsightly mess on your property, diminishing its appearance and value. This is especially problematic for businesses, as a messy exterior can tarnish your reputation with customers or clients.

Reputation Damage: A bird infestation can significantly impact a commercial property's reputation. Clients or tenants might be deterred by the unsightly mess caused by birds, negatively affecting your business’s image.

Signs Of A Bird Infestation

You may have a bird infestation if you notice:
- Bird Sightings: Frequent bird activity around your building or yard, including perching on rooftops, windowsills, or ledges, is a clear sign that birds are roosting nearby.
- Accumulation of Droppings: A significant buildup of bird droppings around your property or near entryways is one of the most noticeable signs of a bird infestation.
- Presence of Mites or Insects: Birds often bring pests, such as mites and insects, with them. These pests can spread to other areas of your property, exacerbating the problem.
- Nesting Materials: Twigs, leaves, and feathers around your property or in vents and gutters can indicate that birds are nesting on your property.
- Bird Noise: Constant chirping or cooing sounds from nesting birds can be disruptive and indicate an infestation.
- Building Damage: Birds nesting or perching in your roof, gutters, or building materials can cause visible damage to them.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do you prevent birds from nesting on my property?

Every bird infestation is different, so we assess each situation individually. Our technicians will determine the best approach to prevent birds from nesting, which may involve installing physical barriers or using other methods.

Are your bird control methods humane?

Yes, raccoons can pose serious health risks. They may carry rabies, parasites like raccoon roundworms, and diseases such as leptospirosis and giardiasis. Direct encounters with raccoon waste or bites can transmit harmful bacteria. To avoid a wildlife problem, seek professional wildlife control services to handle these small animals safely.

Can bird droppings be harmful to my health?

Yes, bird droppings can carry diseases such as salmonella and histoplasmosis. Addressing bird infestations is important to protect your health.

How long does it take to implement bird control measures?

Typically, bird control measures can be implemented within a week, depending on the complexity of the situation.

Will the birds come back after removal?

In some cases, birds may shift their roosting locations. However, we take steps to ensure they do not return to the same areas. Follow-up inspections may be necessary to ensure the effectiveness of the measures.

I used Gilles Lambert Pest Control Services to deal with a squirrel issue. I dealt with Cyrus. He was happy to communicate with me via text message which is a huge plus. It took him and his team a few visits to get the squirrels out of my fascia, and then seal it off so they couldn't get back in.I was happy with their prompt service, and would recommend them to anyone looking for pest control.

Previous to using Gilles Lambert pest control I had used Poulins in Winnipeg and was very disappointed in the response not just staying on hold for 10-15 minutes but also how long it takes for an appointment. When they did finally come by everything is additional charges and very high fees and I found that they didn’t explain exactly what the process was which kept me asking a lot of questions. It seemed like they just wanted to get out of there on to the next call. II found my technician Terry personable and very knowledgeable and explained everything to me. Also gave some great suggestions. This morning I was hearing some noises in my heat register I called Gilles and he sent someone down within 4 hours that day that’s unheard of with Poulins. I am so impressed with their professionalism.I am happy to speak to any customers through via Gilles lambert if they want me to define my experience. Very highly recommended They are awesome Thanks again, Neil
