Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, squirrels are a common sight in Winnipeg trees, yards, and parks.
Where they are much less appreciated is when they’re camping out inside your home. Squirrels can enter a building through holes, vents, or gaps in the building envelope, especially near the roof. Squirrels in an attic are a fire hazard; chewing through wires can create an electrical short or even a fire. As well, they make their nests with dry twigs, leaves, hair, and scraps of cloth. This could easily act as tinder and start a fire.
