Signs You Have A Raccoon Invasion

Raccoons are clever, nocturnal critters that leave clear signs when they’ve made your house their home. Here’s how to identify a potential invasion before serious danger arises:
Unusual Noises at Night
Scratching, thumping, or scurrying sounds from your attic or walls during the night often indicate raccoon activity.
Property Damage
Chewed wires, torn insulation, and broken vents suggest raccoons are nesting. Look for scratch marks on roofing and siding.
Scattered Trash and Food Scraps
Trash cans knocked over or garbage strewn around your yard could signal hungry raccoons searching for food.
Tracks and Footprints
Look for distinctive hand-like prints in dirt or on porches. They’re unmistakable and a clear sign of raccoon activity.
Droppings and Odours
Dark, tubular droppings around your home or urine stains on walls and floors suggest a growing infestation.
Pet Disturbances
Agitated pets or unexplained conflicts with other wildlife in your yard often point to raccoons competing for space or food.
If you spot these signs, contact us to address the issue safely and effectively.

How To Prevent Raccoons In The Future

The smartest way to fend off a raccoon invasion is through proactive prevention. By removing common food sources and securing potential nesting areas, you can keep these unwanted visitors away from your property.

Start by sealing any house entry points like vents, chimneys, and gaps in walls using metal mesh. Secure garbage cans with tight-fitting lids or bungee cords.

Then, you'll want to remove outdoor pet food, clean up fallen fruits from trees, and regularly maintain your garden. Consider installing motion-activated lights or sprinklers to startle them at night. For added protection, use non-toxic repellents with strong odours they dislike.

If raccoons persist, contact us to discuss long-term solutions. A professional approach ensures safety for humans while keeping these crafty critters at bay.

Plus, there are no lethal traps involved, meaning every removal is handled with care and consideration for the well-being of the animals while keeping your property safe and pest-free.
After removal, we seal entry points to prevent return visits. Our experts ensure minimal stress for all animals involved, protecting your home while respecting nature.

Can raccoons cause health issues?

Yes, raccoons can pose serious health risks. They may carry rabies, parasites like raccoon roundworms, and diseases such as leptospirosis and giardiasis. Direct encounters with raccoon waste or bites can transmit harmful bacteria. To avoid a wildlife problem, seek professional wildlife control services to handle these small animals safely.

How quickly can you remove raccoons from my property?

Typically, raccoon removal is completed within two days for a single raccoon. If a family of raccoons is involved, the process can take up to a week. We prioritize humane, efficient removal through professional inspection and trapping services.

Will the raccoons come back after removal?

With our raccoon removal services in Winnipeg, we seal entry points, clean affected areas, and provide prevention tips to keep raccoons from returning. By blocking access and removing attractants like garbage cans or pet food, we help ensure your home stays raccoon-free.

Why do I have raccoons on my property?

Raccoons are resourceful nuisance wildlife attracted by easy access to food, shelter, and water. They may also nest inside walls or attics. Reducing these attractants and securing entry points can help manage this wildlife problem effectively.

I used Gilles Lambert Pest Control Services to deal with a squirrel issue. I dealt with Cyrus. He was happy to communicate with me via text message which is a huge plus. It took him and his team a few visits to get the squirrels out of my fascia, and then seal it off so they couldn't get back in.I was happy with their prompt service, and would recommend them to anyone looking for pest control.

Previous to using Gilles Lambert pest control I had used Poulins in Winnipeg and was very disappointed in the response not just staying on hold for 10-15 minutes but also how long it takes for an appointment. When they did finally come by everything is additional charges and very high fees and I found that they didn’t explain exactly what the process was which kept me asking a lot of questions. It seemed like they just wanted to get out of there on to the next call. II found my technician Terry personable and very knowledgeable and explained everything to me. Also gave some great suggestions. This morning I was hearing some noises in my heat register I called Gilles and he sent someone down within 4 hours that day that’s unheard of with Poulins. I am so impressed with their professionalism.I am happy to speak to any customers through via Gilles lambert if they want me to define my experience. Very highly recommended They are awesome Thanks again, Neil
